The Ram Charan Management Practice Award, jointly launched in 2017 by the Chinese edition of *Harvard Business Review* and world-renowned management thinker Ram Charan, is a non-profit award representing the highest honor in Chinese management practice . The judging panel, composed of professors and scholars from top business schools in China, selects the most innovative and valuable companies from hundreds of corporate management practice case studies each year, building a platform for Chinese enterprises to share and learn from management experiences. A special “AI Application Practice Award” was added in 2025 , focusing on the deep integration of “artificial intelligence + traditional industries,” recognizing outstanding practices that use AI to drive industrial transformation and upgrading towards high-end, green, digital, and intelligent development, achieving significant economic and social benefits.

The case study submitted by the company , titled “AI-Empowered Entrepreneurial Practice in Synthetic Biomanufacturing of Active Raw Materials,” stood out among numerous candidates and, after comprehensive review and evaluation by the expert panel, ultimately won this honor. This award is not only a high recognition of the company’s forward-looking layout and long-term investment in AI strategy, but also an encouragement and impetus for its firm commitment to “AI-driven raw material innovation and full-industry chain services.”

Since 2020 , Enzyme Products has proactively invested in AI research and development, achieving a systematic breakthrough in the synthetic biology field, from algorithms to commercial results. The company has continuously deepened its expertise around the four core elements of AI—data, algorithms, computing power, and team: simultaneously establishing AI teams in the UK and Shenzhen, attracting top talent including core members of IBM Watson, Yale University PhDs, and scientists from the European Brain-Inspired Research Project; building its own supercomputing center and protein database, accumulating over 90 AI models, a protein database with over 5.2 billion entries, an enzyme library with 10 million entries, and a private high-quality enzyme database with over 300,000 entries, and applying for nearly 30 AI-related patents. Based on this, Enzyme Products’ AI system has evolved from “assisting R&D” to “driving innovation,” and has created a full-chain AI-enabled system from raw material selection to flexible production, enabling a leapfrog improvement in the company’s R&D and manufacturing efficiency, making it one of the earliest and most mature “AI + synthetic biology” application cases in China.

With the deep support of AI , several representative achievements of enzyme products have been successfully launched:

S – Bosoxane: Through artificial intelligence-assisted enzyme engineering, we have taken the lead in realizing the large-scale production of enzymatic synthesis of single S-configuration Bosoxane, and have been granted 4 national invention patents.

NAD +With the help of artificial intelligence algorithms, the discovery and modification of industrial enzymes can be significantly accelerated, and the solubility and thermal stability of industrial enzymes can be significantly improved in a short period of time, enabling rapid large-scale production.

RejuvinCP29 : A collagen tripeptide screened through an AI platform, it has excellent firming and anti-wrinkle effects and has been registered as a new cosmetic ingredient;

ReClear T5 : An innovative oil-controlling molecule obtained through AI molecular docking screening, it is gentle and stable, and effectively inhibits sebum secretion.

In addition, the company’s self-developed AI scheduling system R-PMC enables automatic optimization of production plans, allowing the factory to truly achieve flexibility, efficiency and intelligence; the AI assistants “Xiao Ruibao” and “Product Encyclopedia” make professional knowledge readily available, comprehensively improving sales and customer service efficiency.

The successful implementation of AI in the enzyme product is inseparable from the company’s core values: “Customer Success, Embracing Change, Long-Term Striving, and Shared Growth.” This culture empowers the team to plan ahead, embrace innovation, and continuously improve, enabling long-term investment and efficient implementation of the AI strategy. The fact that the enzyme product’s EMT team was awarded the “High-Energy Innovation Team of the Year” by Harvard Business Review in 2023 is a testament to this culture. As Enzyme Product CEO Liu Jian stated, “AI is not a tool, but a new source of productivity for the company. We are using AI to redefine the speed and boundaries of raw material innovation.”

From enzyme screening to new raw material discovery, from intelligent production scheduling to customer empowerment, Enzyme Products has built an “AI engine” for biomanufacturing. This award of the Ram Charan Management Practice Award for AI Application Practice is not only a recognition of Enzyme Products’ innovative practices but also a new starting point for the company to enter a new era of “AI-driven biomanufacturing.” In the future, Enzyme Products will continue to use AI as its core driving force to accelerate the innovation and iteration of technology and products, enabling green technology to create unlimited possibilities for healthy living in more fields and scenarios.
